Ways to improve the effects of giclee prints

After reproducing a drawing to giclee canvas, you can enhance its outcome with the help of some useful tips. Canvas is a very flexible stuff, and it can be decorated in several ways. One of the most common ways to augment a giclee print is by painting it so that you are able to render it an authentic look. You can take the help of acrylic or oil paints to emphasize the print and take it to a next level. Printing on water resistant canvas prevents any possibility of ink separation, and before applying the paint you must wait until the original giclee print gets dried up.
It is considered ideal if, after printing, the giclee is treated with a mixture of resin and base oil (also known as a varnish) so that the likelihood of staining and aging becomes almost negligible. Nowadays special varnishes are manufactured to accomplish this particular task. These types of art prints can be coated either with a special coating machine or spray gun. The printmaker can take the final decision that which coating process can be best suited to his needs. But, as an art tips, it is interesting to know that a coating machine can be used effectively for high volume coating so that tedious labor and possible errors can be avoided. After applying varnish to the giclee print, the texture of the canvas can be enhanced by using paint or gel.
You will come across numerous water-based gels that are convenient to apply as opposed to the actual paint. An artist can also add acrylic paint to these gels followed by applying them on the canvas, which will produce a pellucid mixture that is ultimate for decorating light areas of the print. Giclee prints not
only give a high quality product but can also be adapted to many ways in order to enhance the art work.
